Hapag-Lloyd announces temporary suspension of import shipments to East Malaysia ports

German international shipping and container transportation company Hapag-Lloyd announced recently that it was temporarily suspending import shipments to East Malaysian ports including Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Sandakan and Tawau due to a limitation in feeder space.

In a statement on the company’s website, Hapag-Lloyd apologized and said it regretted the inconvenience that these circumstances may cause and that the company will keep the public informed of any further developments.

Following suit with Hapag-Lloyd’s decision in suspending import shipments to the country is French container transportation and shipping company CMA CGM.

CMA CGM has also suspended shipments to various regions across the globe including Cabinda in Angola due to ongoing congestion, which causes “increasing and irregular” transit times.
